Greetings!
We have had an incredible fall season here in Cape Breton. The weather has been very mild, with an abundant apple harvest for cider making, amazing fall foliage, and lots of wonderful guests from all over the world. Please read below to see what we’ve been up to, and what’s coming up next!
~Shambhala Harvest of Peace Celebration~
On September 24, we hosted an annual Shambhala Harvest of Peace holiday! People from across Cape Breton and beyond gathered to witness two people taking refuge vows with Acharya Moh Hardin. Click here to read about it on our blog.
~Fiddler Workshop~
During Celtic Colours we had the pleasure of hosting a group of talented fiddlers from Saskatchewan, ages 13 to 19. Some of the best fiddlers in Cape Breton and around the Maritimes held daily workshops in our Whiff’s Lodge, including Andrea and Kinnon Beaton, Mairi Rankin, Ward MacDonald, Fegal Scahill, Kimberley Fraser, Troy MacGillivray, and Wendy MacIsaac.

~Celebrate the Fall Yoga Retreat~
We met so many wonderful people during the Celebrate the Fall Yoga Retreat with teachers Blaine Carter (Embrace the Sun Yoga) and Josette Coulter (The Yoga Tree)! Here’s what one participant had to say about the retreat:
“This was my first yoga retreat but not my last! Josette and Blaine were excellent facilitators! The reatreat gave me an opportunity to take a break from lifes distractions! A safe environment where we can step back and see our true selves, taking time to watch the thoughts and behaviors that hold us back, and clear away our mental and spiritual clutter. This is what this retreat did for me!! Thank you Josette, Blaine and the wonderful staff at Cabot Shores!”

~Furry Friend Sightings~
There is no shortage of furry friends at Cabot Shores! Here are a couple cuties that showed up this fall. On the left is a young male moose who was spotted in our orchard looking for apples. On the right is a squirrel with a “magnificent beard”, most likely looking for winter nesting material.
~Did you know?~
Cabot Shores is open all year round! We are taking reservations now for the upcoming Winter season. Come soak in a hot tub, snowshoe around Church Pond, relax in our cedar sauna, and stay cozy warm by the fire in one of our private yurts or chalets. Looking for the perfect Christmas gift? Give the gift of relaxation this Holiday Season with our Honeymoon & Hot tub Getaway. Click here to view details on all our packages.
~Chef’s Corner~
Our talented Chef’s Ron & Nicole have been busy pickling and canning for the Winter season. Some goodies include curried cauliflower, cranberry & apple chutney, salsa, spicy green beans, and bread & butter pickles, to name a few!
Our GoBistro Restaurant remains open all year long. We are still harvesting lots of greens from our garden for fresh salads, including kale, Swiss chard, lettuce, and herbs! The menu changes daily and includes fresh seafood, meats, and vegetarian/vegan options with fresh veggies. We take reservations from 5:30pm-7pm. Please phone 902-929-2584 to make reservations.
~Wednesday Night Ceilidhs~
Weekly Ceilidhs will be taking place every Wednesday 7:30pm-9pm from November 8 to December 13 at the Gaelic College. Click here to find out who will be performing each week.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful Fall!
Until next time,
Sylvia and your friends at Cabot Shores
