Talented Cape Breton musicians are helping to kick off Janet Bickerton’s song release on April 13th, and to raise awareness of homelessness on Cape Breton. Besides Janet, some of these talented musicians include guitarist and song writer Fred Lavery of Woodland Sound Studios; jazz pianist Marcel Aucoin; drummer Ron Leadbeater; and electric bassist Ron Johnson.
The Event will be held from 3-5pm on April 13th at Sacred Heart, 217 George Street, Sydney to raise awareness around homelessness and to raise money for the Ally Centre of Cape Breton.

“This song, “Can’t You Help Me”, is telling two stories.
The repeated plea for help that seems to fall on deaf ears even though those in dire need are standing right in front of us. It speaks to our inability to see ourselves in others.. the ways we put distance between us.
And the story of those on the ground, trying to help – coming up against the fear and apathy of the system and sometimes our own neighbors. It asks us to reach for the best in us.. that we have what it takes.”
Cape Breton Musicians at Cabot Shores
Janet Bickerton has been involved in the Cape Breton Jazz Festival and often performs around Cape Breton and we’ve been grateful for her many concerts at Cabot Shores and her participation in the Cabot Trail Acoustic Festival Series. Whether singing jazz, blues or her own compositions, Janet makes a strong connection with the audience.
