Pet Friendly - $15/night

This 30-foot diameter Big Red Dragon is our largest Mongolian Yurt, and is located next to the Event Space, giving you many options for a weekend away. Whether you stay here for your family's getaway with privacy and tons of space, or you and your closest friends use it for your next retreat or event, the Red Dragon is flexible.

The southern side of the yurt has a window with views of the beautiful forest of the Cape Breton Highlands, and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.  It has two unique big red doors detailed with traditional Mongolian markings, which make for an impressive entrance. The rear door leads to private bathrooms right on your deck next to an optional hot tub (for an additional fee) which comes with a view of the stars at night.

  • In the winter months, the hot tub is still available on your deck, and there is a short walk to the event space to the washrooms.

Inside this magnificent yurt are two double beds and two trundle beds, each which pull out to become twins.  There are comfortable chairs for relaxing with your friends as well as outlets for electric heaters and lamps to stay comfortable while inside. PLEASE NOTE: ELECTRICITY IS NOT AVAILABLE IN OUR YURTS AT THIS TIME. When you want to get really cozy, there is a wood stove you can curl up next to in bed.  A table with chairs is provided and can be used inside with plenty of space to hide from rainy weather or bring it out on the spacious deck to enjoy the outdoors. Outside is your own fire pit for some evening fun!

This yurt can be accessed by car with parking right out front, making it simple to unload your cooler, camp stove, and carload full of energetic kids, friends or dogs. That's right; the Big Red Dragon, despite its name, is dog-friendly!

Are you looking for a versatile place to stay, for your family, friends or even retreat group?

Inside,  you can eat, sleep, meditate, play cards, hang by the fire while surrounded by hand-painted and hand-crafted wood, or even dance the night away under the star-lit skylight. Outside, you have room to play, cook, eat with your family and friends, soak in a hot tub, roast marshmallows, or again, stargaze (seriously, you should see them up here!) .

Rated One of the Coolest Places to Go Glamping in Canada

"From fully furnished chalets to geodesic domes and yurts, there is an accommodation for every type of camper here. But one of the coolest on offer? The Treetop Village, which is composed of geodesic domes on high stilts so you can sleep among the trees. Each dome offers something different — breathtaking views of the Atlantic, famous views of the full moon and stars. Don’t forget to visit the private beach while you’re there, too."

"Very Unique & Comfortable"

The Cedar Yurt on night 2 was the highlight. If you're looking for a cool, unique place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors you can't do better than Cabot Shores. As a plus, the property is very dog friendly so we got to bring our Weimaraner. He had a blast on his first vacation

"Very Cozy"

We stayed in the Cedar Yurt over the holidays and had an amazing vacation. The Yurt was so cozy with the fire place - we even stayed during heavy snow and wind and it was very cozy. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Everyone should visit here!
