Reader’s Digest Canada and Glamping at Cabot Shores

Cabot Shores is known as one of the first and only Yurt camping areas on Cape Breton Island.
A few years ago, the CBC sent a reporter to interview Dr. Paul on the Yurt adventures here.  And, coincidentally,
two guests were celebrating their 10th anniversary, in the Yurt.

Tipi – A Gathering Place

The tipi is perfect in any arrangement, whether you’re a couple, a family or group. It comfortably sleeps up to 12 adults, with enough room for you and your backpacks.
Sitting on a wooden platform floor, the base diameter of the tipi is 22 feet. A hearty canvas covers 27-foot-long spruce poles, which were cut, skinned and smoothed by the draw knives of the Cabot Shores family.
While sleeping on mats is recommended, twin and queen-size beds are available for “deluxe” comfort seekers.

Tipi UP

Mi’kmaq Charley Pierro helped put up the Tipi poles which blew down this past winter.

Every year Charley and his  wife Melee come to check on the Tipi and often do ceremonies there
and around a fire nearby .

The Tipi is much in demand for lodging and even has been used by 3 generations celebrating a birthday …folks off different
ages and cultures love the Tipi, at all times of the day.
