As the cold of winter transitions to the warmth of summer, take time to nourish body and soul as we journey through the five elements.

Your Yogascape will be shaped by incorporating the aspects of ether, air, earth, wind and fire into our activities to nourish body and soul. Move through Flow and Yin Yoga classes, hike to Kalapa Valley falls, and savour warming foods. Discuss philosophy of self care, practice Yoga Nidra, gaze into a bonfire, and soak in a hot tub. This is your opportunity to connect with like minded people while having the unique opportunity to stay in a yurt on beautiful Cape Breton Island!

All meals provided during the retreat will be vegan unless otherwise requested. All participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item(s) for a local food bank.

The Retreat Leaders:

Josette is the Founder of The Yoga Tree where she teaches predominately Vinyasa Yoga as well as Adaptive Yoga.  She has experience teaching beginner to advanced classes from ages 5 and her oldest student is 100 years of age.  Teaching many types of yoga such as; yoga for hockey players, Prenatal and Post Natal Yoga, weekly yoga classes to her community, yoga for aging well & weekly adaptive yoga classes at an adult residential facility, as well as, senior citizen homes.

Writing and the healing arts are some of her passions which she has incorporated into her workshops and retreats. Josette leads in retreats throughout the province of Nova Scotia and has developed a retreat for women called Groovy Goddess and one for girls called Groovy Goddess Girls.  Last year Groovy Goddess Girls was brought into the elementary school in her community which she taught the empowerment workshop to both grade five and grade six girls.

She has been teaching yoga in schools for over almost six years where yoga is implemented into the school curriculum in her community.  Here she teaches yoga to grade primary to grade six, with both teachers and students. She also taught yoga after school to grade six girls, focusing on empowerment.

Blaine started yoga in search of a cure for his constantly sore lower back! It started during random lunchtime classes at work, and then quickly escalated into a consistent Bikram practice. This sold him on hot yoga, where he has consistently practiced hot yoga ever since. Blaine has been teaching for over 2 years now and has consistently built upon the knowledge gained from the 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher training. Having completed SUP Yoga teacher training, 50hr Yin Yoga training, a yoga retreat to India, several Wanderlust festivals and online training with Sienna Sherman, Janet Stone and Juan Pablo Barahona, he continues to dig deeper into all aspects of yoga. The connection with nature and sharing his passion for yoga with others has “really stoked the fire within…”
