Have you ever wanted to take a few days and learn from a native elder?

One who knows the habits of the moose and bear and eagle?  And has many stories of each?

The stories are full of humor and color?   Until a point of change.  Where it gets more serious, even spiritual.  A lesson is there if you hear it.

Over the last few seasons since 2005, John Henry Lafford and other Mi kmaq guides visit Cabot Shores and develop “Wasoqatesk Village” (you can read more under Adventures—Uncle’s Dream)

But this summer there’s 3-4 days set aside for wandering and exploring Indian Brook and the Highlands.  And doing a number of ceremonies during this time.

Your availability for the Native Journey

Native programs offer a unique opportunity to discover and understand the aboriginal traditions and way of life. We are very respectful of the First Nations' traditions and require from all our participants that they enter these programs in the same state of mind, and that they carefully respect the native protocols during these adventures.

WigwamNative Circles

Our Native Circles include meditation sessions, outdoor activities and traditional community circles, in a native village setting. During the Circles, you will exchange with other community members about your feelings and observations on a variety of subjects, under the supervision of a guide or shaman. The objective is to learn new ways to improve the communication in your family or community through the use of traditional native techniques such as the "talking stick".

"Thanks for making our stay at Cabot Shores a memorable event. We thoroughly enjoyed the natural beauty of the surroundings, and found the view of the ocean from our chalet porch each morning and evening a great way to start and end the day. The chalet was comfortable, the meals delicious and the service absolutely superb. Our hikes and short but exhilarating swims reminded us of the special role nature plays in our lives, and the importance of preserving our environment. We complement you on your vision of helping to keep alive the history of the Native people. The Sunday night music event with both Scottish and Mi 'kmaq music and dancing was an eye and ear opening experience we will long remember.

Please give our best to the rest of the Cabot Shores crew. "
