NEW! Click on the following pictures & take a
tour of our brand new Lodge.

Whiff's Lodge is a stunning barn-style construction with an open basement and 2 floors. Each level offers an amazing view on the Atlantic Ocean. It has been built and named in honor of Irving Weinberg, an anesthesiologist, mentor, and Cape Breton community leader, whose nickname was Whiff. The lodge is a place for community gathering and exchanges.

If you are looking for private lodging, book one of our Cape Breton private chalets! But if you want to meet people, exchange or party while enjoying real comfort, Whiff's Lodge is what you are looking for. It is also a great place for larger friends and family gatherings, or companies and organizations meetings, and can be adapted to your specific needs.

Each of its 6 bedrooms and suites is equipped with:

  • A queen or double bed,
  • A private three- or four-piece bathroom,
  • Air conditioning, phone, TV & DVD/VCR.

We paid great attention to details when designing these rooms. Beautiful wood is present everywhere, with hemlock sidings and pine hardwood floors, and most of our furniture and linens have been handmade by local Cape Breton craftspeople as part of Cabot Shores' rustic comfort design.

One of the rooms is barrier free with direct wheelchair access and roll-in shower.

Whiff's Lodge also offers:

  • A cafe and dining hall;
  • A Main Hall with cathedral ceilings, sitting room area facing a monumental stone fireplace, and a stage for evening entertainments;
  • A common room also with fireplace, for meetings or to hang out in front of the fire and read books from our library.

Wireless Internet is available all over the Lodge. Our bedrooms and amenities are 100% non-smoking.

Other services and amenities include: barbecue, laundry service, canoe and bike rentals (snowshoes in the winter), evening entertainment, Cape Breton Island tours, guided expeditions, workshops, etc.

"Thanks for making our stay at Cabot Shores a memorable event. We thoroughly enjoyed the natural beauty of the surroundings, and found the view of the ocean from our chalet porch each morning and evening a great way to start and end the day. The chalet was comfortable, the meals delicious and the service absolutely superb. Our hikes and short but exhilarating swims reminded us of the special role nature plays in our lives, and the importance of preserving our environment. We complement you on your vision of helping to keep alive the history of the Native people. The Sunday night music event with both Scottish and Mi 'kmaq music and dancing was an eye and ear opening experience we will long remember.

Please give our best to the rest of the Cabot Shores crew. "

“This lodge is absolutely beautiful and the land and sea views are inspriring.  The large spaces and use of light wood from the windows made me feel lhealthy and free. I loved doing tai chi in the great room…”

"What a fabulous looking resort you're making! We were very impressed with the main chalet, the individual chalets, the grounds and location"

David and Donna, Middle River, NS

"I really enjoyed skiing, snowshoeing and watching the ice form on the Atlantic. Nothing quite like being vigorously active outside, cold, tingly and then stretching out in the hot tub or sipping hot chocolate in from of the Lodge's fire. I really enjoyed meeting the local people at the Lodge's ceilidh. Thanks Paul, it was a great experience!"

Donald, Halifax, NS

“Beautiful setting, great accommodation and sincere hospitality. The kind of lodge to which I’ll be quick to return”
